Supports are available for people who are the victims of drug related intimidation.
A number of Cork families have spoken out about how they have lost their homes and their life savings due to drug related debt.
Garda figures show that nationally 500 cases of drug related intimidation crimes were reported last year.
The "DRIVE" project which is a national, inter agency programme aims to support families.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show David Lane, HSE Co-ordinator of Drug and Alcohol Services says the programme aims to open the door to families to access Garda support:
"To have senior Gardaí in stations across the country, who can support and give advice to families who are dealing with these kinds of challenges, this is an important first step for us. We have nominated inspectors in Cork here who have responsibilities in relation to supporting families around drug related intimidation and violence".
