The Tánaiste has condemned the violence which occurred in Ballyvolane in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A Garda investigation is underway after a grenade, which failed to go off, was thrown at a house in Meadow Park Avenue.
Neighbours homes were evacuated while the army bomb disposal unit carried out a controlled explosion.
Speaking to RedFM News Tánaiste Michéal Martin says violence in any area is not acceptable:
"But again the Gardaí are dealing with that. And I have no doubt that given the competence of Gardaí on the ground in Cork that they will get to the bottom of that but again, any violence or any attempt at violence has to be condemned no matter where it takes place."
