The Tánaiste says the long-stalled Events Centre has the potential to increase tourism in the city but would not be drawn on how much money is needed to get the project over the line.
The City Council has sought more funding for the 6,000 seat project, however has not said how much more funding is required.
Finance Minister Michael McGrath said at the start of this month that Cabinet will consider the request for a “very substantial” increase in public funding.
Tánaiste Micheál Martin says the Government will consider the positives for the city:
"To live in, to work in to recreate in, and have a very good quality of life. That's what we're about which is about then the rebalancing of the country's economy, developing strategically strong cities of global scale."
