50 people were killed when the ship they were working on exploded off Bantry Bay over 45 years ago and their families are seeking a State apology
Speaking to RedFM News Deputy Mick Barry says he will be raising the plight of the Whiddy Island families in the Dáil this afternoon
"I understand that those families have written to the tea shock, seeking a one to one meeting with him. I think he should grant it. And I also understand that those families are calling for fresh inquests into the events of January 1979. And the state should grant those fresh inquests".
