Taxi driver held at knifepoint in Ballyvolane

A taxi driver has been left very shook up after he was held at knifepoint in the Ballyvolane area this morning.

Details are sketchy but what is known that the driver in his 60's picked up a fare and as he stopped near the Ballyvolane Fire station to leave his passenger out of the cab, the man held a knife to his throat and demanded cash .

The man has been described as low sized in 30's and was wearing a dirty white jacket.

The taxi driver raised the alarm and Gardai at Watercourse Road are investigating the matter.
