A teenager is to appear before Cork District Court this morning in relation to an attempted robbery at a shop in Myrtleville yesterday.
The 18 year old entered O'Connell's shop around 11am yesterday, he threatened staff and demanded cash before fleeing the scene empty handed.
Builders on a near by site saw the drama unfold and chased the raider and detained him until Gardai arrived.
He was arrested by Gardai after he attempted to get away on foot and taken to Togher Garda Station for questioning
Follwowing a search an imitation firearm was recovered from a nearby ditch.
