The Ireland Funds, the global philanthropic network, has opened applications for its George Moore Scholars programme, which aims to widen access to postgraduate education and extend learning opportunities for students across the island of Ireland.
Launched in 2020, the George Moore Scholars programme has awarded €6.9m to support 144 students. The programme will support students to undertake a master’s degree in the US, UK, Canada and Europe in the 2024/25 academic year.
The scholarships are awarded to students who have an ambition to make a positive impact in their field of study and make a significant difference to wider society. In 1972, George Moore received a scholarship to study in the US which enabled him to become one of the most successful Irish-American businessmen of his generation. The ethos to support people with talent and drive at a key stage in their lives is embedded in the George Moore Scholars programme.

Scholarships will support the cost of higher education fees, research, travel, visas, accommodation, health insurance and other key costs associated with pursuing higher education abroad. The scholarships are high-value, multi-annual awards and are open to students who want to tackle our great global challenges and make a lasting impact in their chosen field.

Applications for the 2024/25 academic year are now being accepted from students spanning all academic disciplines who expect to graduate from their primary degree in 2024 or who have graduated from their primary degree in 2023. A limited number of Early Career Scholarships are available to candidates who have graduated in the last five years and who required specific work experience in order to apply for their master's programme.
