Victims' advocacy groups want the Commission of Investigation into reports of historic sexual abuse at some religious schools to be carried out in an "expedient" and "victim-centred manner". A statutory inquiry has been ordered after almost 2,400 allegations involving 884 alleged abusers were made to a scoping inquiry. They included over 300 schools spanning a 30-year period including 32 cork institutions.

A TikTok craze is encouraging single people to turn up at branches of grocery chain Mercadona between 7 and 8 pm, and put an upside down pineapple in their trolley if they're looking for love. Police were reportedly called to one branch in Bilbao after too many people showed up and "overwhelmed" it.
