- A Cork based addiction counsellor says he is unsurprised by an ESRI report which found that one in 10 adults are problem gamblers in Ireland.
- The Taoiseach says next week's budget will deliver around at least an extra 1 thousand euro to workers. It'll come through tax cuts and one-off payments.
- Forsa workers in the HSE will take industrial action today, over a managerial recruitment freeze. The union says all clerical and administrative staff will be taking part in the work-to-rule action.
- The record for the warmest day in October may be broken tomorrow. A warm spell will see highs of up to 23 degrees on Saturday - ten degrees above the usual autumn temperatures.
