- Road users are advised to use extreme caution this morning as a yellow rain warning association with Storm Ciarán expires. Spot flooding is expected and the RSA are asking drivers to slow down and not to drive into flood waters.
- Cabinet is expected to sign off on an extension to flood support schemes for businesses, when it meets remotely today. The Enterprise Minister Simon Coveney is to extend schemes until November 5th, following further flooding in recent days, and the prospect of more damage from Storm Ciarán.
- Hospitals in Gaza are on the brink of darkness with thousands of lives including new born babies at risk. That's the view of Action Aid Ireland, which says fuel supplies there have almost run out.
- Lockdowns, and other restrictions brought in during the pandemic, have been found to have had a "real lasting impact" on the brain health of the over-50s. A study from the University of Exeter found cognitive function and working memory in older people declined, regardless of whether they caught Covid.
