Clerical and administrative staff in the HSE are to begin industrial action.

93.3% of members of Fórsa, working in those roles, backed the move.

The union says the ballot was prompted by the HSE’s decision in July to halt all recruitment of clerical and administrative staff.

It claims the HSE is increasingly relying on agency staff and spending 'extravagant' amounts on external private consultants - instead of investing in upskilling, training or promoting the existing workforce.

Industrial action will begin in early September.

From today, those aged 6 and 7 will be able to gain access to free GP visits.

Parents can register their kids for the visit cards on the HSE website.

Children under 6 have been eligible for free GP visits since 2015.
