A man's body has been found in 'unexplained circumstances' in County Cork.

The discovery was made in Mallow last night.

The body of the man was found at the foot of a stairwell in an apartment in Mallow shortly after 7pm yesterday.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted and he was pronounced dead at the scene, which was sealed off overnight.

A 70 year old woman who spent over two days on a chair at Cork University Hospital has accused the government of doing nothing to solve the overcrowding crisis.

Patricia McCarthy from Blarney says she was admitted to the Emergency Department on New Years Day and spent 57 hours being treated in a chair before getting a bed in a ward.

Patricia praised staff at the hospital and has called for a public inquiry into the hospital overcrowding crisis.

In a statment to RedFM News, CUH say the hospital is currently operating at maximum capacity due to very high levels of demand. 

The demand is leading to long delays for some patients, however the hospital says urgent patients will always be priotised for treatment. 

The statement goes on to advise people to consider all available options before presenting at the hospital.

The man who flung a bag of cow excrement at two Government TD's says he is not concerned about the furore surrounding the incident.

Bags of dry cow dung were hurled at Junior Minister Anne Rabbitte and Fine Gael TD Ciaran Cannon during a public meeting in County Galway on Wednesday night.

38 year old Joseph Baldwin is now the subject of a Garda investigation but has told the Irish Independent that 'someone had to speak up to them'.
