Nurses simply cannot afford to live in Cork due to the high levels of rent being charged in the city.
That's according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation who say the Government needs to work on making the profession more attractive in order to attract and retain nurses.
The union says they are seeing staff handing in their notice with increasing frequency with rising rents and the cost of living often cited as the reason for leaving.
