A man in his mid-20s has been rushed to Cork University Hospital after being stabbed in the city yesterday evening.
Emergency Services were called to the scene on Grand Parade at around 7:30pm.
Garda Press told RedFM News that the man remains in a critical condition at CUH and investigations are ongoing.
Gardai have arrested a man in his early 20s who was brought to a Garda station in the city, where he is being detained under section 4 of the criminal justice act.
The scene close to Daunt Square was preserved last night for a technical exam.

The body of a woman killed after being hit by a train in Co. Sligo remains at the scene of the tragedy this morning.
She has been named locally as Jessica McLoughlin from Sligo town who was aged in her 40's.
A second woman aged in her 20's is still in a serious condition in hospital.
Investigations are underway into how the incident involving the 3.05 pm service from Sligo to Dublin happened.

SIPTU is to stage protests at three main hospitals in Dublin, Limerick and Galway today over what it says has been a major insult by the Government.
It's 5,000 members in the health sector were promised one thousand euro as a special Covid 19 recognition payment on behalf of the State, however the money hasn't been paid.
The protests will take place outside Beaumont Hospital Dublin, University Hospital Limerick both at 11am and the Nurses' Home at Galway University Hospital at 2.15
