Theft is up by 33% in the city.
Cork Business Association says it's hugely concerning for traders.
The figures were revealed at a joint policing committee meeting on Monday evening.
President of CBA Kevin Herlihy and owner of multiple Herlihy’s Centra stores in the city says he has to have security in all of his shops:
Overall, theft is up by 33%. Superintendant John Deasy gave the stats on Monday so it's very concerning, there's a lot of shops don't have security on site, not that they should have to have security but I've made the decision to have security in all my shops to protect my staff and stock."
