Storm Isha has left a trail of destruction after battering the country overnight.

There have been fallen trees in many parts of the city and county with power outages and powerlines down along with spot flooding.

There's been a warning for those using roads in and out of Innishmore in Ballincollig after construction barriers and cones blew onto the road while the road from the airport to Carrigaline is completely impassable due to a fallen tree.

Thousands of homes, farms and businesses throughout Cork lost power yesterday.

Customers in Ringaskiddy, Kilbarry and Coolroe are still waiting for their electricity to come back.

ESB Networks crews will mobilise again at first light to assess the damage ad restore electricity supply.

Meanwhile, 10 flights were cancelled from Cork Airport yesterday and 6 inbound flights had to be diverted.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says a better day lies ahead but watch out for debris:

"Still breezy, but the winds have eased this morning but it will still be a very windy day there'll be a mix of sunny spells and showers. So an improving situation but still some strong winds and there may still be some trees and debris that are loose there could still be brought down this morning so people should take great care this morning, especially as overnight will be a lot of debris on the roads."
