Construction on a new runway at Cork Airport is due to get underway this week after the airport closed for ten weeks yesterday.

The €40 million project to resurface the 3.1 kilometre runway and replace the runway lights was due to take place at the end of next year but was brought forward due to the pandemic.

There's increased calls for the Health Minister to explain the circumstances which led to the Slaintecare resignations.

Last week, Director Laura Megahy and Chairman Professor Tom Keane stepped down from their roles.

They resigned after expressing frustration at the lack of political will to end the two-tier health service.

A judge in New York will decide later whether the woman accusing Britain's Prince Andrew of sexual assault has done enough in her civil case against him.

Virginia Giuffre (PR: joo-fray) claims she was forced to have sex with the Royal when she was 17 - something he's always denied.

The hearing will evaluate whether efforts to serve Andrew with legal papers were sufficient or not.
