Trade union leaders are discussing next steps after talks on a new public sector pay deal failed to reach agreement last night.
The talks at the Workplace Relations Commission were adjourned yesterday meaning negotiations remain inconclusive.
It is now not clear if agreement can be reached before the current deal expires at the end of the year.
Union leaders say they're open to further talks before Christmas, with a decision on their next move expected before lunch today.
