Traders in the tourism and hospitality industry say they have to pull back on jobs that need to be done to their business due to the challenges in the sector.

Business owners in tourist towns say that although footfall is high, tourists aren't spending as much on food and drinks amid the cost of living crisis.

Meanwhile the industry is calling for the Government to reduce the vat rate to 9 percent to help tackle high inflation and staff wage costs.

Speaking to RedFM News owner of O'Donovans hotel in Clonakilty Tom O'Donovan says it's hard to predict profits of the season:

"You need to pull back on things, you cut your cloth to its measure, little jobs that we're going to say all put off until after the season, hoping that we'll have a good season. But it's just tight at the moment, so you batten down the hatches and you be careful."
