Strictly Come Dancing star tests positive for Covid-19 ahead of launch

Bosses of Strictly Come Dancing have confirmed that one of their professional dancers has tested positive for Covid-19.

The positive test result comes after the launch show was filmed which is set to air on BBC One this Saturday evening at 7:45pm.

A spokesperson for the show said: “A professional dancer has tested positive for COVID-19 however this didn’t affect recording of the launch show which airs this Saturday.

“We are following government guidelines to ensure the safety of all on the show.”

The celebrities taking part in the 2021 edition of the reality show are McFly member and author Tom Fletcher, comedian Robert Webb, TV presenter AJ Odudu, 2012 Great British Bake Off Winner John Whaite, CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson, Dragons Den star Sara Davies, presenter and journalist Dan Walker, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn, Tilly Ramsey chef and daughter of Gordon Ramsey, actor and producer Greg Wise, actress and comedian Nina Wadia, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, Loose Women presenter Judi Love and former rugby player Ugo Monye.

Strictly Come Dancing Line Up

This years judging panel consists of Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke. It was hoped that judging regular Bruno Tonioli would return for this year's series but travel restrictions means he has to sit it out for another year.
