SuperValu have released their Christmas advert for 2021.
Last year the supermarket chain tugged on the heartstrings with their festive campaign related to seeing loved ones in lockdown and this year they've made us emotional all over again.
Their 2021 ad sees a young girl called Aoife finding an injured reindeer called Deermuid in her back garden. Aoife becomes friends with Deermuid and helps the animal recover as she is eager to make sure they're back in shape to make it back to Santa in time for Christmas to help him deliver his gifts around the world.
The new ad encourages viewers to "Share The Magic" and the video certainly captures the imagination and magic of Christmas time.
Deermuid's handler in real life, Eddie Drew, gave some background on the beautiful deer saying, “Deermuid is nine years old and absolutely loves people.
"He was sadly abandoned by his mother as a fawn, but this meant he was bottle-fed and grew up on a farm, making him extremely sociable and comfortable with humans."
Penny Lynch plays the part of nine-year-old Aoife. Speaking about her involvement in the Christmas ad, she said, “Filming the ad was the best week ever!
"Even though the weather was terrible I still had the most fun with Deermuid.
"Deermuid and I had two playdates before the shoot so we were good friends from the beginning."
