Two teenagers have been remanded in custody after they were charged with the murder of a 29 year old man who died over a week after being assaulted outside his Carrigaline home over the Christmas period.
19 year old Ricardo Hoey of Ardcarrig, Carrigaline and 19 year old Jordan Deasy of Ravensdale, Heron’s Wood, Carrigaline were both charged with the murder of Matt O’Neill at Glenwood in the town on December 28th last year.
The judge at the District Court hearing heard evidence in relation to the charging of both men with the murder of Matt O'Neill who died at Cork University Hospital on January 8th.
Neither Ricardo Hoey nor Jordan Deasy replied once the murder charge was put to them after caution.
The DPP has directed trial by indictment at the Central Criminal Court and the DPP was also consenting to both men going forward on signed pleas of guilty on the charge if that situation arose.
Both of the men's solicitors said that a book of evidence would be required as their clients would be contesting the charge and applied for free legal aid which the Judge granted in both cases.
Judge Olan Kelleher remanded both accused in custody to appear again in court on June 21st by video link.
