Uisce Éireann is carrying out investigations and a clean up operation following an incident at Freemount Water Treatment Plant
5,000 fish in the special conservation area of the River Allow died after the river became contaminated
Uisce Éireann says measures have been taken to ensure there can be no further discharge from the plant and has assured the community there has been no impact on the quality of drinking water
In a statement the utility says any spillage occurred downstream of the intake point for the plant and therefore would not impact on the quality of water entering supply.
