A Ukrainian woman who fled to Cork at the outbreak of the war says she's grateful to the people who have helped her build a life in the city.

Tanya Malanchuk has been living in Cork for two years with her young daughter however her husband and parents remain in Ukraine.

As the second anniversary of the Ukrainian war was marked at the weekend, she says she longs to return home with her daughter.

Speaking to RedFM News Tanya says without the support of the people she met in Cork her life would be much more difficult:

"Life in Cork is connected with something very, very warm and very, very supportive. So that's why I feel myself really good here from an emotional point of view. So for me, the most important is that here, I managed to build some kind of the life like I could have at home, but just not at home, if you know what I mean".
