Robert Heffernan spoke to Neil Prendeville about announcing his retirement from athletics. The 5 time Olympian and World Champion was one of Ireland's most successful athletes. He has told Neil he will now focus on educating children on fitness and finance in a new role with Bank of Ireland. Rob says it was very emotional reading through the messages of support he received after the announcement yesterday.

Aaron McMahon is in ICU and his father Paul McMahon has updated the Neil Prendeville show. Paul says Aaron has a long road ahead and they hope to be home in September. Aaron turned 18 last week and has faced a tough few days as he recovers from massive surgery in Pittsburgh, America.

Mossie Phelan has been recalling memories of the Cork trade of old. Mossie used to manage the Market Tavern in a time when you couldn't serve women and becoming a bar man was a trade. It's sparked memories of the past pub trade in Cork - from names of pubs, to women being banished to the the snug and only being able to get a glass or a small one.

Ann Dunlea, mother of Olivia Dunlea, spoke to Neil as the man convicted of her daughter's murder is to appeal his conviction. Darren Murphy was found guilty last month at the Central Criminal Court of murdering the playschool teacher at her Passage West home in February 2013. Darren Murphy had stabbed the mother of three numerous times before setting fire to her quilt.
