Blue flag beaches in Cork and seven other counties will be banned to dog walkers and horse riding until September
The restrictions which coincide with the bathing season were introduced to protect water quality and beach users' health from animal fouling.
Cork has more blue flag beaches than any county in Ireland with 11 blue flag beaches across the county
The restrictions on the blue flag beaches will mean no dog walking or trekking will be allowed between 11am and 7pm during the bathing season which runs from 1 June until 15 September.
Exceptions will be made for guide dogs and assistance dogs.
