A Boil Water Notice has been issued with immediate effect for the Whitegate Regional Public Water Supply.
The notice affects approximately 9,500-people in Whitegate, Aghada, Churchtown, Ballycotton, Saleen, Shanagarry, Ballinacura and some areas of Cloyne.
The Boil Water Notice has been put in place as a precautionary measure following issues at the Water Treatment Plant, due to heavy rainfall overnight.
This may have compromised the disinfection process which makes the water safe to drink.
Irish Water and Cork County Council say they are working to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible.
If anyone is unsure of whether or not the Boil Water Notice applies to them, they can visit www.water.ie or alternatively contact the Irish Water customer care helpline on 1800 278 278.
