CoACTION West Cork has raised the crisis they're facing in recruitment with public representatives last week and the challenges that poses to their service.
CoACTION are one of the HSE's biggest providers of services for children and adults with intellectual disabilites and autism in Cork and have been unable to recruit suitably qualified staff to keep their house on the Beara peninsula operating.
The staffing shortage will lead to the temporary re-location of three people by the end of October from their home in Beara to two of their other CoACTION houses in Bantry and Skibbereen.
They say the three individuals will return to their home in Beara once they have successfully recuited qualified staff. The Association says they are continuing communication between people supported, their families and staff on the matter
Co Action say since the pandemic hit in March 2020 they have been struggling to recruit qualified staff right across their services in West Cork and they have asked local public representatives to raise the current challenges with Government colleagues.
