Cork County Council has confirmed that two disabled access toilets will be installed in Kinsale shortly.
It comes after the town's toilet block was demolished on Monday with local business owners accusing the council of a lack of communication around the demolition works.
Over 4 years ago the Council committed to replacing the toilets and it's understood temporary toilets were to be installed at the end of March while the replacement works were being conducted.
However the toilets were demolished yesterday leaving the town with just one paid public toilet beside the car park.
In a statement issued to RedFM News the Council says the public toilets in Kinsale were unfit for use and consequently, they were demolished and these works should be completed shortly.
Two disabled access toilets will be delivered and arrangements will be made to have these open to the public as soon as possible.
In relation to the construction of permanent toilets in the town, the council is at the planning and design stage and say when this process is complete the project will be brought to the elected members and the public for comment.
