A Cork North Central TD says it's not right that derelict buildings are appreciating in value as speculators letting them lie idle.
'Derelict Buildings in Cork need to be redeveloped'.
Thomas Gould has called on the City Council to engage with the owners of sites at the Good Shepherd Convent and of Atkins Hall to develop these into housing.
Atkins Hall has been on the Derelict Sites Register for over 5 years while The Good Shepherd Convent was added to the register in 2019.
Both properties had been empty for long before that.
In a statement to RedFM News, Deputy Gould said "Hoarding land and houses in a Housing Crisis is not just morally wrong, it is scandalous".
