Secondary school students across Cork are expected to gather in the city today to take part in a demonstration calling for climate action
Similar protests are also planned in Dublin and Galway as part of the Global Climate Strikes.
Over 10-thousand people turned out for a similar event in Dublin in 2019.
Anjelica Foley is from Fridays For Future:
"There is an energy crisis and we're seeing the volatility of the fossil fuel markets and gas. And I think, really what we must do is invest an awful lot more in these new renewables. There's a lot of new technologies available. And obviously we're fighting for the future. We're students. We don't necessarily have all the answers, but it's quite simple that not enough is actually being done."
