Thousands of people and hundreds of boats will arrive in Cork for the return of Cork Week later this summer.
The regatta run by the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven is returning to Cork Harbour from the 10th to the 15th of July.
Races will take place at a number of locations in the harbour and will include the Beaufort Cup which involves a race around Fastnet Rock.
Cork’s RedFM are the media partners for the event which has taken place every two years since 1978.
Speaking to RedFM News, co-chair of Cork week 2022 Ross Deasy says there is a lot of excitement around this years event:
"Every one was disappointed when we couldn't make 2020 happen, it was a big event for the club, a big event for sailing in Ireland generally. What we've seen is an awful lot of the people that were planning to come in 2020 have almost instantly re-booked for 2022. We're probably knocking on the door of two hundred boats coming from all over Ireland, all over the UK and some from further afield and all sizes and manner of boats from 100 year old classics to brand new racing machines."
