Customers with KBC and Ulster Bank could be facing months of chaos during their banks' withdrawal from Ireland.
KBC has two branches in Cork: at Lapps Quay and in Wilton; while Ulster Bank has seven branches across the city and county.
The difficulty is emerging as they try to switch their current accounts and find new homes for their money.
Reports in today's Irish Independent say customers applying for credit cards and overdrafts with new banks are encountering delays lasting weeks and even months.
It's understood the applications are backing-up while banks struggle to cope with credit checks, as over a million accounts prepare to switch.
