The Garda watchdog has welcomed plans to give it more powers of investigation -- but says aspects of the planned reforms don't go far enough.
GSOC's given its response to new proposed legislation on policing today, which it says will "streamline" its work.
It's seeking the power to search Garda stations beyond cases of death or serious injury, without permission from the Garda commissioner.
And it says if it's to finish inquiries in a "timely" manner as the bill requires, Gardaí should also be required to co-operate in a timely manner.
