The continued inflation of Leaving Cert grades could "devalue" the exams, according to an education expert.
It's after a number of students who received high points last week were not offered a college place from the CAO yesterday.
The points needed to study medicine at UCC increased by 7 to 738, while Arts remained the same at 300 however accounting jumped by almost 50 points to 553
Business and information is the most popular course in the country with almost 7,800 first round offers.
Professor of Education at Trinity College Damien Murchan believes predicted grades or possible continuous assessment will cause grades to grow higher.
"We will devalue the currency of the Leaving Cert, not only in Ireland but internationally.
"Many of our students apply to colleges in the UK and elsewhere, and if our grading system is seen as too lenient they'll have problems getting in elsewhere."
