Emergency services were called to the scene at Dunbar Street at around 10:15am.
The house and section of the road close to Douglas Street remains sealed off this afternoon after the body of the man, believed to be in his late 20s, was discovered lying at the rear of the house earlier today.
Officers from the Garda Technical Bureau are currently carrying out an examination of the scene and house to house enquiries are underway
In a statement to RedFM News, Garda Press say the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
The man's body remains at the scene and the results of a post-mortem examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
