A man arrested in connection with the investigation into the death of Matthew Healy has been charged.
The 89 year old retired farmer from Berrings Co Cork was pronounced dead after he was assaulted in a general ward at the Mercy University Hospital after 5:30am on Sunday.
A 32 year old man was arrested shortly afterwards and was taken to the Bridewell Garda Station for questioning.
A post mortem was carried out at Cork University Hospital by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster- Gardaí have not released the results for operational reasons.
In a statement to RedFM News, Garda Press say the man arrested has been charged and is due to appear before Cork District Cork tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 10:30am.
