The Minster for Further and Higher Education says its absolutely crazy that Gardaí can turn up at a riot, and be the only ones there without a camera.
Simon Harris says legislation will be passed swiftly to provide every member of the force with a body-cam.
A proposal to introduce controversial facial recognition technology will also be brought forward by the Government this week.
Simon Harris believes An Garda Síochána must be given greater support:
"The basic premise is that we need to free up Garda time. We need to use technology to aid Gardaí in their work. And we also have to be very conscious that criminals are indeed using technology now, and the idea that our Gardaí would be precluded from using similar technologies can be a real problem".
