NPHET's recommending children reduce their social contacts over the coming weeks.
It's advising against indoor community gatherings for under 12s, including parties, communions and sleep-overs.
It's also recommending that kids over nine wear masks in school, on public transport and in shops.
Labour's spokesperson on Education Aodhan O'Riordan says it needs to be heeded by government.
"I think we're beyond the realm now of questioning what the public health advice is.
"We did that last December, and it led to absolute disaster in January.
"In this season that is so child oriented it's the responsibility of everybody to ensure that children are not overly anxious, that they understand that if these measures are brought in more people will be safe, and less people will be sick."
