Schools will carry out their own risk assessments on whether to close their doors as the cold snap continues.
There's a status orange low temperature, and ice warning, in place nationwide until midday today.
The National Emergency Co-ordination Group have left it up to individual schools to decide on telling students to stay at home or not.
Paul Crone, director of the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, says decisions will be made locally.
