Speaking to RedFM News, Mary Crilly from the Sexual Violence Centre Cork says the majority of perpetrators are young men:
"The perpetrator is mainly a young man who feels very entitled, very arrogant, who has no remorse about it, who won't call it rape. He won't say 'I raped somebody', but he will brag to his friends because they all brag to their friends about what he did and about being with somebody the night before and she can't remember anything and have a laugh about it and think it's hilarious and then he'll keep doing it again and again. And the friends aren't intervening, they need to start intervening, they need to start saying look it's not a joke, it's not funny."
