The Business Post is reporting there's considerations at increasing an allowance for electricity and heating to increase from 10% of bills currently, to 30%.
The allowance only applies for the room a person is working in, and for the days they're working from home.
It's believed the change could cost up to eight million euro a year.
However, HR expert Mary Connaughton from CIPD Ireland isn't convinced it would make much of a difference:
"Currently employees can claim 10% of heating, electricity bills for the days they work at home for the room that they use and it's alone now, an increase to 30% of the heating, electricity bills will go some way towards helping those costs but it won't be significant. And we estimate it's likely to be in the region of €50 a year per person.
