The Taoiseach says the Housing for All plan will provide long term employment for skilled trades people.

Micheál Martin was speaking after the government launched ambitious plans to build 330,000 homes up to 2030 at a cost of €4 billion a year.

The plan has been welcomed by construction groups and homeless charities, however there are concerns about a lack of skilled workers to build the homes.

Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the plan includes provisions for recruitment.

"There will have to be more flexible courses and programmes put on to fast track people either from an unemployed situation or from other workplaces.

"The importance of the plan is that it does provide stability in terms of the underpinning investment over a ten year period, so that someone choosing a career in construction can look forward to a good timeline, that it's not going to be stop start and someone can plan a career in construction knowing that it's going to be there long term."
