Two communities in Passage West and Deerpark have been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of a teenager who drowned yesterday afternoon
14 year-old Jack O'Sullivan was swimming with a group of friends off the pontoon at Marniers Quay in Passage when he got into difficulty
His friends raised the alarm and a multi-agency search and rescue operation was launched and his body was recovered two hours later
A post mortem examination will be conducted at Cork University Hospital
Local councillor Mick Finn who knew Jack told RedFM News that he had a "magnetic personality"
"He's a huge loss, he's one of these characters - even though a very young man at 14 years of age - he had a really magnetic personality and stood out in a crowd.
He attracted a lot of people to him friends and adults alike. Teachers are speaking of how he had a mischievous smile, how he was such a great character and people had great time for him
So his loss is being keenly felt not alone by his friends and family who are devastated but by his teachers and those adults who worked around him"
