The White House says a deal to free some of the hostages held in Gaza is "closer than ever".
It's understood the agreement would involve the release of dozens of captives and an extended pause in the fighting.
America's deputy national security adviser Jon Finer says outstanding areas of disagreement between Israel and Hamas "have been narrowed":
"I believe we are closer than we have been in quite some time, maybe closer than we have been since the beginning of this process to getting this deal done. And we are following this minute by minute, hour by hour, and have been for a number of weeks, up to and including the President for whom this is a major priority".
