An updated County Emergency Plan would help to rebuild trust within the community in East Cork
Millions of euro worth of damage was caused to homes and business in the region after the deluge caused by Storm Babet last year
It's hoped the new plan will include essentials such as a first aid station, a crisis centre with essential supplies and a more targeted emergency response from local agencies
Speaking to RedFM News Caroline Leahy of the Midleton and East Cork Flood Action group says they are relying on the local authorities to keep them safe
"We have lost an awful lot of trust in the government and the authorities to help us, because we've been waiting a long time for flood relief, and obviously, because there was a lot of failings on the day, and it's about building that trust back up now, because we're reliant on those people to keep us safe. We had a lot of near fatalities in October, and there was a lot of fear of a repeat event, that we will lose lives. We're relying on the authorities to keep us safe"
