Those who are victims of domestic violence are being urged to speak up and report abuse.
Gardaí say Christmas can be an isolating time for those who suffer.
There has been an 8 percent increase in reports of domestic abuse this year compared to 2022.
Detective Superintendent Sinéad Greene says help is there for anyone who experiences abuse:
"We understand a Christmas can be a very frightening and isolating time for anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse, with fewer opportunities to report these and access routes to safety. We also understand that post-separation can be an extremely difficult time and can affect escalate matters. Speak to somebody you trust".
