People in Cork are being warned not to allow criminal gangs to use their bank accounts to move money.
The Echo report that there are currently 18 investigations into so called money mules being carried out in Cork.
The investigations, being carried out under Operation Ransom and Operation Adverb, focus on people who are suspected of allowing their bank accounts to be used by crime gangs to withdraw and deposit cash witch has been stolen from other accounts.
Gardai say that younger people in particular are targeted by criminal gangs online via social media.
