Workers will be automatically signed up for a pension from September 2025.
The Social Protection Minister has signed the commencement order for the launch of the scheme called ‘My Future Fund’.
It means workers who earn over 20 thousand a year will be automatically enrolled for a pension through their employers.
It will apply to workers aged between 23 and 60 who don't already have a pension.
Heather Humphreys says it’s the single most significant reform of the pensions landscape in Ireland since the introduction of the pension in 1908.
