A Status Yellow ice warning for the whole country is in place until midday.
Met Éireann is warning of hazardous travelling conditions with icy stretches on roads and footpaths.
It says there may also be freezing fog in places.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says rain is possible in the southwest.
"It's another very cold morning with icy conditions, right across the country.
"The far south west may see some patchy light rain and drizzle, with temperatures slowly increasing.
"It's a very cold morning across the country again with patches of fog locally, with a risk of some freezing fog, so that could lead to some very treacherous conditions."
